Matej Kobulsky is a filmmaker whose career started where the wind did. Fifteen years behind a camera, a marketing degree from Rotterdam, and a body of work running from Olympic qualifiers to Gulf tourism boards to a full-length kiteboarding documentary.

What started as a way to document the action soon turned into a full-blown filmmaking career. Today, Laci works with top brands, elite athletes, and luxury resorts, crafting high-energy, cinematic stories that don’t just capture moments—they make you feel them. Whether he’s in the air, on the water, or behind the lens, one thing remains the same: the pursuit of the perfect shot, the perfect ride, and the next big adventure.

 

I started filming because my friends and I wanted to watch ourselves snowboard. Then kitesurfing took over, and it turned out that chasing the sport around the world with a camera was something people would pay for. I studied marketing at Erasmus University Rotterdam, which is why I ask what a video is supposed to achieve before I ask what it should look like.
 

Since 2012 that has been KOBULSKY MEDIA. Along the way there was Aaron Hadlow's TWENTY, which took two years and is still the project I am most attached to, plus work with Alby Rondina, Gianmaria Coccoluto and Paula Novotná, and a lot of jobs in places I would never have seen otherwise.

These days I split the year. Sicily from May to November, where I also run Amunì Media, and Liptovský Mikuláš for the winter. I fly a licensed drone, I speak Slovak and English, and my Italian is improving faster than my patience with it.
 

One last thing. Most people call me Laci. It is what I have answered to since school and it is why this page has the URL it has. On anything with an invoice attached, I am Matej.
